The traffic was unusually light, so the trip went quickly. Snow and ice were not a problem, but the wind was unusually strong and nearly blew the car off the road a couple times. I'm glad Enterprise gave me a free upgrade to a larger car, a Cavalier. The forecast warned of gusts up to 110 kph (78 mph). I left Guelph at 2:40 p.m. and arrived back at 8, with a stop for dinner.

On the ride back, I realized that what I need in order to continue writing my novel is not a break, but a couple days hanging out with my two silly girls. I suppose it was my own children who inspired me, in the first place, to write something entirely whimsical.

Glad you got home ok. And Go Girls!

It's been pretty dang windy in Toronto, especially downtown where I work. Those buildings really funnel the wind around. Yonge and Bloor was really bad as well. Bicyclist being tipped over - very scary.

Have a great time with your daughters Van. Smoooches!

Last night walking three blocks from the bank to the Albion I got a bit scared, the wind was so violent, and the rain started driving so hard I could hardly see where I was going. I'm glad the weather is settling down finally.

We're having a great visit. The girls are tucked in reading. I'll talk to you soon.

My favorite part of my job is being around the chaotic, joyous energy that kids bring to the classroom. They're a bundle of ideas, emotions, and half-baked schemes (and in teenagers' case, hormones), and those things interact and spill out in the most interesting ways.

I'll say this much...they keep me young...and laughing. :)

I admire you for being able to work with that. A friend recently suggested I try teaching children, but I don't know how to handle their energy. I never had the freedom to be a teeanger myself. I have had to learn to relax and let my own kids express themselves this way around me. They bring out a different, nuttier side of me that most people rarely see, except perhaps in my writing. I don't think I'm comfortable enough to do it with other children.
