"Good morning," she said. "It's a nice morning. Very wintery."

So when are you coming for a visit?

How about a hot chocolate and some snuggles when I get these things off?

I'm digging my way out right now. See you in a few hours. ;)

"Achy" doesn't seem so bad in that context somehow.

[Raises hand]

That last picture, with the radiating cracks in the snow/ice, is awesome.

You're not gonna believe this, but I didn't even notice the license plate said ACHY until you mentioned it. That's kinduv typical of me: I see the big picture and miss the details. The image already held enough irony for me to want to post it, and now....well, that's just hilarious. Maybe I saw it subliminally. Interesting.

Yeah, winter isn't so bad when you have warm drinks and warm arms. The depression I wrote about a couple days ago seems to have lifted, thank heavens. My mornings have not been broody, which is a good sign. Now I'm simply coping with the fact of living alone in snuggle weather, and not seeing my master cuddler for at least another two weeks.

Under the rubble in the foreground is a pipe from the storm sewers. The relatively warm effluent melts those dendritic channels. The minnows I photographed yesterday likes these outlets, too.

I made a big mug of coffee just now. I've been avoiding it for a couple weeks on account of my stomach and mood, but today I decided to indulge. I mixed half a package of hot chocolate into it. Think of me when the warmth goes down. Glad you enjoyed the pics.

No way! It is pretty funny that you didn't notice it; from my perpective it was what I immediately zoomed in on. Appreciating the rest came after.

Glad to hear that things have lifted. Sending less helpful but nevertheless warm mental hugs from here -- as is the master cuddler, I'm sure.

aw and you ARE so cuddly.

Oh yes. Essentially.

I haven't stopped to think about the smell lately. I've noticed that the air often smells of snow before it starts. I'll have to pay more attention when I walk tomorrow.

Things look kind of interesting there. You know, the life of the river would make an interesting bit of reading. I'm thinking along the lines of a parallel world of people(?) looking out of the water into the air and telling us about it from that perspective. Of course, it doesn't have to be fiction but, that watery voice is just the vehicle through which the story is told. Since you've given us so many images of the river, I could see that as a possibility. As you can see, I'm thinking along the lines of my class next semester already. :-)

I'll take the hot chocolate and snuggles, please! We're getting the storm now (possibly up to two feet). It's pretty but I do not relish shoveling out in the morning.

Snuggles for me, please, I know there's something furry, warm and cosy underneath all those layers. yum.

Three layers: a thick long-sleeved shirt, a sweat shirt and the flannel jacket, plus a scarf tucked around my neck. I haven't climbed on a scale in months, but I still fit in my 33" Levi's 501s, so I must still be under 180 lbs. The beard is warm, plus I have let my hair grow a little this winter.

Notes on snow coming up sometime soon.

P.S. In October I turned my topic at Suite101.com into a nature journal. Each month is a diary of my walks, describing the weather, plants and wildlife, impressions, etc. Here I show, there I tell. All these photos, plus some additional ones, are linked and interpretted within the articles. My December entry will be posted around the 27th, and I will post a link here.

Meanwhile, at your request, I'll post something about snow on LJ.

Right now. Er. Never mind. Just read the *second* half of the sentence. Distracted by cute picture of mountain man to warm me up after hike through chilly, fabulous Eramosa scenery. Cold in Somerville too. Must. Invent. Transporter.
