More Christmas Eve
Dec. 24th, 2003 10:54 pmOn the way home from our hike, I stopped and picked up a rare treat, a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream. I haven't indulged that particular fetish since Christmas several years ago.
For dinner we had tourtière, a French-Canadian pork pie with savory and cloves, traditionally served on Christmas Eve. It came to mind when I was thinking about Christmases past. I had tourtière for the first time on Dec. 24, 1998 when Dan's friend Keltie served a delicious dinner to us and siome other friends. I made it myself for the first time this evening.
After dinner the girls and I fulfilled a time-honoured tradition of our own, going for a drive through suburbia to see the Christmas lights strung on house after house. I dislike the suburbs, but they habitually give a nice show, neighbour vying with neighbour for the twinkliest house on the street.
We came home and baked spicy orange ginger cookies.
djjo expressed interest in these, so some of them are bound for Toronto next week.

I need to start the difficult task of steering the girls towards bed so that Santa can stuff their stockings.
