Tonight as the temperature feel these bizarre chains of ice crystals spread across the glass. It is as if a new water-based life form were evolving on my bathroom window. It looks like algae through a microscope, or coral.

That's a really interesting formation, which raises the question as to whether the severity of the cold affects the arrangment of the cystals. Your photo suggests yes. Although I just now went to our hall windwow which produced the frost patterns I posted a while back and there was realy nothing strange to report. Just very similar patterns to before, more densely spaced.

This is my sixth winter in this place and I have never seen anything like this pattern, although I've had many fantastic frost formations. It's so organic looking it's almost disturbing.
