Snort

Marian and Brenna got along fine with Danny, not that I expected otherwise. After leaving the fair, we picked him up and drove downtown Toronto for a look around Allan Gardens, then dinner at the Village Rainbow. Joe the waiter brought Brenna a piece of cake with a birthday candle.

Then, giddy with chocolate, my daughters discovered Danny's weakness. We were all joking and laughing when Brenna snorted, and anyone who knows Danny well will easily guess what that led to. Of all teases I know, my 10-year-old daughter is the most relentless (Can't you see it in her eyes?). Danny's fate was sealed.

The hard part for me was showing discretion, at least until the girls get to know him. I don't have qualms about showing appropriate affection in front of them, in the appropriate time. For tonight, it was hard restraining myself from reaching out and rubbing his belly. Fortunately I only have to wait until tomorrow night to see him alone again.
