Bookmaking
Dec. 5th, 2003 11:28 amThe gift-giving season and one of
verian's delightful creations have inspired me to experiment with bookmaking, which I wanted to try for years. I intend to assemble small photo albums to give my daughters and parents with souvenirs of the past year. Last night I reviewed some paper folds and dug out stacks of paper I made several years ago.

The idea of assembling an entire book appeals to me as a writer. Handling paper, ink and binding feels like an abstraction of wordsmithing.
My printer has an annoying habit of leaving one tiny black ink smear somewhere on each page, just enough to mar an entire 5"x7" print. It doesn't do this to printed copy, so why colour photographs? As time and money are limited, I will probably use some of these flawed images.
The offending black cartridge ran out last night, too. After a shower I'll make an excursion to Staples to buy a new one, and then Wyndham Art Supply to look for cover board and other supplies.
Tonight the Rainbow Chorus has its dress rehearsal for the concert tomorrow; and Danny
djjo is coming to Guelph for the weekend.
