I must try to sketch the emotional landscape of today.
I went out to shovel Danny and Bill's sidewalk at 11:30 and one of the neighbours had already done so.
I left the house with a lot on my mind. This afternoon I was so angry at LiveJournal I wanted to take a vacation. Don't ask. Yes, I know I shouldn't take it so seriously. That's part of the problem.
Instead I sat in Timothy's and read a few pages of Heart of Darkness, wrote in my paper journal, and drank a caramel latté. It was good. I need to read more books about rivers.
I came back at 3 p.m. and the sidewalk had already filled in about 15 cm (6 inches). I haven't seen so much snow in years. It was blinding, dizzying. I shovelled it again. By the time I finished it had already started to fill in behind me.
Later, dinner with Danny. A game of Scrabble. When we finished I pushed the board away from between us. Some exuberance, and then...
Peace.
