Cottage vignettes
Jul. 29th, 2005 04:49 pm[Lindsay Public Library] I dropped the girls off and came in for a few minutes to check my email. The library closes at 5 so I haven't much time. I'm looking forward to having the cottage to myself until Sunday afternoon, when my parents return.
The Northern Lights were moderately bright the night before last, just a wide white band over the horizon, silhouetting the tallest trees on the far shore. A few streaks of light shot upward. The lake was still reflecting the whole show, with stars. Two barred owls answered one another in the woods and loons called in the distance. It was eerie and wonderful.
I've been a bad influence this week, turning Marian on to Rufus Wainwright and Bette Middler.
We've had some hilarious times. The other day in Robinson's General Store she said, "I love hardware stores! I think I'm becoming a lesbian. Can we go to Canadian Tire?"
Yesterday at Queen Street North, a hip boutique in Huntsville, Brenna pointed out this pin: "God was my co-pilot, but we crashed in the mountains and I ate him." A terse summary of my life, but it gave all three of us a laugh.
Thanks to Zig and Mike for transcribing my phone posts. Take care everyone.
