SolidagoThe other day during the rapture of my new writing obsession, the words of a favourite song erupted from my subconscious. Then it struck me, that's what "Fascination" is all about: the thread of energy that makes creativity both satisfying and addictive.
Today I Googled
Human League online, and discovered that's precisely
what the lyrics mean. Fascination arose from the band's recording sessions. It's about the creative process. It also happens to be one of the few remarkably good songs about being happy. Maybe the meaning eluded me so long because this sense of unbridled potential has visited me so rarely.
I didn't know how to finish everything in time to visit
roosterbear and
quillon in Toronto this evening. I had committed myself last week to writing a short story this morning for
1001 Nights Cast. But I didn't want to back out of my promise to myself, to work on Tendril's story for two hours today.
Finishing today's submission at 10:30, I realized it had fulfilled both projects at once. Although the characters' names are changed,
today's reading on 1001 Nights Cast was part of Tendril's backstory. It's amazing when threads weave together that way, and fantasies are learned.
