Television
Dec. 16th, 2005 04:36 pmI arrived in Toronto a few minutes ago for a weekend of shopping, visiting friends and catching up with Danny before the holiday strikes. I’m in a strange, scattered state of mind: so many things to do, and some getting swept under the carpet of my own forgetfulness.
Last night Mom told me to stop at the Sears office today to pick up a gift that would arrive for me there today. So I headed to Stone Road Mall and came home with a new 20-inch Toshiba television. I’m grateful but also a little flabbergasted. Haven’t I told my parents I dislike watching TV, that I only get one fuzzy channel and will never get cable? The old, tiny one sufficed for watching occasional movies, which I do enjoy. Now a DVD player would turn this into a nice entertainment centre. But I probably shouldn’t tell them the first thing I did after hooking it up was watch a bit of porn on that nice screen. Okay, I admit, I’ll also get a kick out of watching some favourites like Pulp Fiction so I can actually see Bruce Willis’ face.
Okay, I’m heading down to the ghetto for the evening.
