Danny: how can I keep from gushing?

Kensington Market was eerily quiet at lunchtime. A streetcar sighed through slush and a nearby church bell tolled as Danny and I turned down Augusta Avenue. Luscious blobs of snow drifted past painted shops displaying second-hand costumery.

I’m rarely enthusiastic about vegetarian fare, but Danny was in the mood. We dined at King’s Café, a Chinese Buddhist restaurant. Too early in the day for curry, I thought. The appetizer plate offered four flavours of persuasively meat-like items made from gluten, I think: curry, barbecue pseudo pork, teriyaki, and sweet and sour, all yummy. I was hooked, although less impressed with the coconut lemon grass soup. I must sample the mushroom dishes eventually.

Speaking of vegetarian, can anyone recommend a tofu mushroom lasagne recipe? I never forgot one prepared at Amber Fox faerie Canadian Thanksgiving 2003.

After brunch I visited the Turkish delight lady. She has the best.

At Lettuce Knit I drooled over Manos Del Uruguay yarn, which I want for this scarf. If I’m still enchanted and can set aside money, I’ll buy two skeins next weekend.

The used vinyl/CD store presents a decent Classical collection. I bought Mitsuko Uchida’s Schubert impromptus for Sylvie, who’s learning to play one.
