Splinter wound
Jun. 3rd, 2006 12:04 pmFor posterity. The large mark on the left is where the splinter went in, with a couple marks near it from smaller splinters Connor was able to remove. The small red mark beside my middle finger is where the splinter emerged. I pulled the tip out myself before realizing it was connected. The surgeon had to excise flesh from both ends to get the pieces out. It happened on May 8. Wood wounds shouldn't be sutured due to risk of infection. Instead, the larger wound had to be packed and dressed to absorb drainage until May 27.
