I have a little smiley sign by the doorknob reminding me to declutter. Yesterday morning down to the dumpster went one pair of worn-out shoes. This morning was garbage day, so the usual bags of garbage went. So far, so good. It takes no time at all; I only have to remember.
Cleaning the kitchen was not on my list of big projects, nevertheless that is how I spent my extra time and energy last weekend. Usually I look after that room better than the others, but it had fallen into neglect these recent weeks while I obsessed about the new blog. That's part of the challenge: I tend to focus on one priority to the detriment of others. I need to ritualize housework in order to maintain balance.
Next weekend I will tackle the messes on my list, beginning with the pile of clean laundry which never gets puts away, just worn and recycled. That shouldn't take long. If I finish, I'll eliminate one or two boxes from the pile in the front room.
