Amusing dreams make everything better
Apr. 3rd, 2012 06:33 pmToday I went to the hospital and got knocked out for gastroscopy. The main purpose was to check the hiatal hernia, which has caused little trouble recently but needs a good look every few years. Perhaps my persistent cough this winter has had more to do with reflux than allergies, but I doubt it. The surgeon also planned to do a biopsy to look for evidence of celiac disease, but I'm not holding my breath about that, having kept a strict gluten-free diet for four years. Anyway, I will have to wait to hear what they found. I expect this will be the end of poking and prodding for a while. We've looked everywhere that can be looked, and some of my questions are answered.
Recovering from sedation, I needed to come home and rest. I was reading The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver and last night we watched Tea With Mussolini (a favourite). Dozing off, I discovered the Scorpione harbouring Leon Trotsky on a secluded estate. Trotsky was a large Italian man in a yellow suit, who had too much to drink at a garden party. Cher was Frida Kahlo. Meanwhile, spaceships collided overhead.
