Last week I got lots of writing done, but this week I am feeling the season again: slow and nonverbal. I like what a friend, Sue, said on Facebook yesterday: "Healing works better without a gun to the head." In the case of this seasonal affective thing, nothing is actually wrong or broken, life just needs to be lived according to nature rather than artificial rules and structures. Without a gun works best. Going with the flow, I don't get sad or scared. I do think about millions of people stuck following the rules.

Fibre work makes me happy. I have woven 25" on the magically soft silver-grey stole I threw on the loom earlier this week. Meanwhile I am already well into spinning fibre for the Men's Spring Knitting Retreat scarf challenge, which I must keep secret until May. It is enough to say I love spinning this stuff and am one-third of the way through it.

Tomorrow morning we will head to the cottage for the weekend. On Friday we are meeting with an agent to look at renting the place out for a few weeks each summer. I have responsibility for the place now, so we have to raise funds to cover taxes, insurance and upkeep. Likely nobody else will be around this late. I'm looking forward to seclusion and serenity.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends.
