Have you read "Fugitive Pieces," by Anne Michaels? She is Caucasian, but the novel has a very different take on Toronto from Findley or Atwood. Brand's writing reminded me of her.
It's interesting to see that genre defined. I have always been intrigued and puzzled by the supernatural thread that runs through classic Ontario fiction.
