It just occurred to me that the first photo in my previous post, the one with gulls on a field, illustrates and glorifies the agricultural landscape of Southwestern Ontario. It is hellishly flat but lacks the wide open quality of the Prairies because it is sparsely wooded, but even the woods are drab and immature. I have trouble loving this landscape that surrounded my youth, so I cleave to the river and lakeshore. Guelph is relatively hilly. But I ought to look more often for beauty in these flatlands.

Here is another example:

I have a bit of space-agoraphobia myself. I need edges to my space. Flat, empty spaces like huge plazas or the prairies or lakes make me anxious.

You must feel uncomfortable outdoors in the countryside around London then!

Not usually, although it's been a while since I was out there. There's a lot of little woodlots and hills to make edges.

On the 401 near the 427 gets to me. And I had to stay indoors crossing from Tobermory.

So you have been to Manitoulin Island! I went there camping for the first time three summers ago. Beautiful place.

Yes. I was two different weeks in Gore Bay for work and stayed one of those weeks in Mindemoya. Very beautiful. The Hawberry Jam (http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/Hawberry) is good, too.
