Have a collection of 15 dildoes.

Oh my! At least your dance card will always be filled on a Saturday night, whether you have a date or not.

And I never have to worry about who gets the most attention. I am a connoisseur of solo sex. Sex with men is an entirely different kind of fun.

I try to be my own best friend. I recognized the importance of that when I started doing self-therapy eight or nine years ago. Danny and Muffin Man both listed themselves in their answer to the meme, so I didn't want to do the same without careful consideration. I'm frequently aware of ways in which I let myself down. But every friendship has its disappointments. One of the keys to intimacy is being willing to derive pleasure from spending time with imperfect people. And despite the ways in which I sometimes undermine myself, I am also the one who gives myself the happiness of writing, walking, singing and loving. It begins with caring and forgiving that man enough to call him your friend regardless of his behaviour.

A Recent Rufus W concert

Thanks for posting this. That's one meme that calls for a lot of time and thought, and I appreciated what you shared.

Since you mentioned R. Wainwright as a favorite artist, I thought I would share my friend Pam's report on a concert he gave in Berlin last week.

hugs, Shimmer

from my friend:

By the way, I forgot to tell you that I went to hear Rufus Wainwright on Monday night. He and his band put on the most fabulous concert I have ever
attended. They played in a beautiful church right near my house, so the venue was relatively small and intimate. I had no idea about his inspired silliness.
He was absolutely adorable and hilarious as well as a wonderful musician. The woman who opened for him also sang back-up and played guitar and violin later. She dedicated her last solo number called "We Don't Own It" to Elliott
Smith. She calls herself "Joan as Police Woman" (a tribute to Angie Dickinson) and
has a wonderful voice as well as playing kick-ass piano and violin. I didn't catch her last name. For the last few numbers they all wore lingerie, then witches hats and capes (Rufus had on striped knee socks and high-heeled ruby slippers, and collapsed to the ground at the end of one song like the witch in Wizard of Oz) and finally bathrobes. In the first lingerie number, Rufus also had a tiara and fairy wings. One guy in the audience, moved by so much splendor, called out "Beautiful!" in a heavy German accent. I wish you had been there.

That's odd: you're the second LJ friend who has copied for me the text of a loved one's letter about attending a Rufus concert. The other was in Pittsburgh. What is this telling me?
