Detroit skyline viewed from Windsor

A half hour before reaching Windsor the train passes marshes on the southeast corner of Lake St. Clair. It is one of the most easterly places in North America where yellow-headed blackbirds nest. It is no more than a 45-minute drive from where I grew up, but I have only viewed those marshes from train windows. I only saw a yellow-headed blackbird once in British Columbia.

Then the track follows the beach and rows of cottages. The sun sank lazily over the water as I approached Windsor last night. Dad and Mom met me at the station and we drove along Riverside Drive, then went to a steak house for dinner.

Now I'm back in Guelph with the Sunfire. I have to clear everything out of the bathroom today.

Then I'll head to Toronto. Unfortunately Danny won't be there this weekend. I had a whim to visit the cottage. On the other hand, I could haul all my camping equipment out of the basement and go to Turkey Point. Or I could simply settle into the city's summer life and drink sangria on Church Street patios all weekend. Anyway, I've decided to drive to Toronto. Cars make life more spontaneous.
