Seems like I haven't knitted much lately, as compared to before Christmas when I had a motivational deadline.
But Thursday nights are good. I finished most of Mom's scarf and my slippers on Thursday nights through the fall. This is when Marian and I talk on the phone for at least 30 minutes, sometimes an hour. This turns out to be the perfect complement to knitting. Not only do I get a lot done, but also keeping my fingers busy makes it easier to listen patiently and attentively. The last thing Marian needs is to hear Dad anxious to get off the phone and plug back into his computer.
Tonight I finally made more headway, finishing the first section in a hat for rfmcdpei, with five more to go. It won't be ready in time, but happy birthday anyway, Randy.
Meanwhile I caught up on Marian's news. She bought a second newt to keep Leonard Nimoy company. And this weekend she will go snowboarding at Blue Mountain for the first time with a friend's family.
I've never wanted to downhill ski before, but part of my wants to share her experience. She's growing in independence so quickly it scares me.
