My apartment has been converted into a print room. Fresh paper occupies the desk. Each booklet must be assembled, fed into the printer, flipped, and printed on the reverse. In booklet format, there's no way to reprint a single page if the printer guffaws; I'm appalled at the amount of waste paper, must recycle it into something handmade. Good copies go to the kitchen table and a cutting board to be folded, stapled and trimmed with a box cutter. The process is slower than it sounds. In two evenings, I've assembled 20 booklets. Those already paid for have been shipped.

A Guelph photographer I know on Flickr saw the chapbook and asked to purchase one. As far as I know, she had never read my writing before. She left cash in her mailbox and I delivered a copy. We still have never met.

I balk at creative endeavour because it carries me so deep. I've become utterly consumed with the repetitive, tactile process. I hardly bother to eat. I work late into the evening, and then need several hours to unwind. This morning I went to bed at 4 a.m. This sense of commitment needs to be balanced with self-care.

To order your copy of An Elegant Path, go here. Postage and handling costs have been more than anticipated. To simplify, I will just add $2 CD or USD to your donation for the book on all PayPal orders.
