Morning

Awake early, I wrote, ate breakfast, then noticed sunbeams licking my shoulder. It's going to be a busy day, so I decided to go for my walk now. Descended into radiant light, never made it further than 50 metres from the front door. Everything was radiant, but whoever heard of water standing in the streets in August? We hardly go 24 hours without thunder, lighting and torrential rain, then it clears for one of these fresh-washed mornings.

We have a service call to St. Paul's Basilica in Toronto today (I am going, too). It's always fun to get out of town.

It seems a bit late in the season for Chicory to be flowering, but maybe the frequent rain is keeping it fresh longer.

I have perennials in my garden (lavender, for one) blooming a second time, presumably because it has been such a wet summer. Things that usually become semi-dormant by this time are not.

I am enjoying it, too. We haven't had very few of those hot, humid days that I dislike about Ontario summers.
