Dad will undergo surgery again tomorrow. The antibiotic seems to be taking effect but other factors indicate he is not healing as expected from the first procedure. X-rays suggest one or two air bubbles are trapped under his sternum, and he continues to experiences sharp pain in his upper right chest in response to activity. The surgeon gave Dad the option of waiting to see whether it improves, or letting them open him up tomorrow to take a look. He chose the latter.

It sounds so simple, but it's overwhelming.

I have an appointment to take my car in for am emissions test and new tire tomorrow, then I was planning to go back to London to visit Dad on Thursday. I decided to stick with that plan because he'll still be under anesthetic tomorrow night, and might benefit more from the visit when he wakes up.

How do I cope? I need to write more about that later.
