vaneramosMy good friend, Sarah, lost her job last week, not my writing partner but the other Sarah, Sylvie's partner. Sylvie has been away at teachers' college since August, living with her mother in Ottawa. Without any immediate prospects, Sarah had to leave Guelph to stay with her mother in Elliot Lake in northern Ontario. Sylvie and Sarah plan to get married next summer and will probably settle in Ottawa. They have been like family, not only to me but also my daughters. I will miss them badly, but Sarah's departure was so sudden I haven't absorbed it.
