This afternoon I went for a walk and took a photo every 20 paces starting from the back door. I only cheated once, taking an extra picture of the makeshift bridge over the creek at about number 40. There's nothing spectacular here, except for the idea that I can walk out the back door and into this woods whenever I want. All of this is within Guelph city limits. I don't know who owns the pine plantation (city land?), but I think the wet meadows are part of Hanlon Creek Conservation Area. The camera ran out of batteries after the 63rd shot, about the rwo-thirds mark of my trip. There are 63 low-res images, and the slide show takes less than 5 minutes to view.

My head immediately start chanting

“If you go out in the woods today,

You’re sure of a big surprise.

If you go out in the woods today

You’d better go in disguise”

A lovely walk in the woods, I hope you do it again in a different season for us.

BTW do you have a google map reference for the park?

Hanlon Creek Conservation Area does not turn up in Google Maps, but it does on Mapquest. In either one, you can search for our street: Carrington Place Guelph ON Canada. The southward grey area with the creek running through it is the conservation area. Public access can be found at Hanlon Creek Park and Preservation Park (both searchable) on Kortright Road a few blocks west, though friendly travellers would be welcome to enter the area through our back gate, of course.
