This week we are temporarily removing a pipe organ from a church in Milton to allow major renovation of the sanctuary. The place isn't air conditioned, of course. Basically, we're lifting and moving a lot of heavy, awkward stuff out of the organ loft. It would be hot, grueling work even without a heat wave. Toronto had its hottest morning on record and will come close to a record high of 38.3°C/101°F. Nearby Milton was a degree cooler, but has already reached 49°C/120°F with the humidex. I have never sweated so hard. We drank water constantly. We quit and came home at 2:15.

I can't imagine doing any kind of physical labour today - sympathies. :(

I've been sitting in my air conditioned office all spoiled.

WOW! I never realised it could get so hot there. It makes my average of around 32-35 positively balmy.

Well these are extreme, record-breaking temperatures. Our average high here at this time of year is 26. We normally only get a few days over 30 each summer. However Southern Ontario summers tend to have high humidity, which makes it feel a lot hotter.

I feel for you. We had guys working in our attic earlier this week, and I'm not sure I could have allowed them to do so today (or tomorrow) in good conscience. It's brutal out there!
