More chocolate!
Aug. 23rd, 2003 10:44 amThe City of Guelph has put $7 million into gutting the failed Eaton Centre and turning it into a new shopping and office development that brings back the traditional streetscape. It is called Old Quebec Street because one downtown block was closed off when the original mall was built about 20 years ago.
The new place has been under constructed for more than a year, but it looks close to completion. The skylight can be opened to allow airflow through the street. I hope it succeeds this time. Many of the spaces had already been leased when I went in last week, but not the biggest ones near the entrance, which are being reserved for a restaurant and clothing stores.

Now here's what I'm excited about.

My daughters and I visit the Huntsville location in cottage country every summer. This will certainly tempt me to spend more time and money downtown. More chocolate is what the world needs to revitalize its urban cores!
