Fire

This is about the building where I lived until July. In early October I noticed barricades around it, and the street-level windows were boarded up. I didn't hear the story until today.

There was a fire. Nobody was hurt. One street-level apartment was fire damaged and the rest of the building was smoke-damaged. Nobody is allowed in pending an inspection by the fire marshal. I was worried about a fire in that place because it was so old, but it felt a lot safer and was a vast improvement on the previous house in so many ways. I have only happy memories of the two years I lived there. I am sorry for all the people who still did, and can't imagine losing my home that way.

How fortunate my life unfolded the way it did this year.
