First handspun silk blend samples by vaneramos, on Flickr

[livejournal.com profile] djjo and I attended the Ontario Handspinning Seminar on the weekend. It was my first. The theme this year was silk, so I took the workshop focusing on an introduction to spinning with silk. These are my samples. The one on the right is an 80/20 wool/silk blend from Wellington Fibres. On the left is a blend I made on the hand carders, mostly dyed tussa silk with just a little natural black wool. Much fun was had.

Are you going to knit something with it next? It must be great to be able to spin and then knit something with it!

There isn't enough here to knit much of anything. I might weave them into something or just keep them as mementoes. I have only recently started spinning, so I plan to practise some more before starting any big projects. But yes, the goal is to spin yarn I can use for knitting and weaving.
