In which we acquire a new spinning wheel

I received an extremely nice, unexpected, slightly early birthday gift today.

We have been borrowing the local spinning guild's single-treadle Lendrum spinning wheel so I could continue spinning while Danny did homework for his spinning course on his own wheel. We were becoming a two-wheel household.

Well, today we went to Wellington Fibres to return the rental. Donna happened to have a double-treadle Lendrum identical to Danny's lying in the middle of the room in its box. It was an extra order that she was going to return to the supplier, but the price was excellent. The full accessory kit was included: a high-speed head, plying head and lazy kate. Danny had been considering a couple different models for his next wheel but they would have cost several hundred dollars more. The Lendrum is highly versatile and I love it. It took him about three minutes to decide this would be my birthday present. Many thanks, Love.

We're both working on our scarf challenge for the Men's Spring Knitting Retreat this afternoon.

I noticed that about our birthdays when you added me. It's interesting. I had a friend in high school who was born the same year and day as me, but otherwise I only remember ever meeting one other person who shared it. But I'm glad for your sake we don't share the year. My age is getting a little intimidating.

It sounds like you have at least tried knitting and spinning. I only learned to spin last year and I love it even more than knitting.

Thanks, Joe. I was not into fibre crafts before I met Danny, but I'm glad I got into them. We're lucky to share a lot of pastimes and interests.
