Some important personal notes from MagNet2013

This week I've been attending Magnet2013, Canada's magazine industry conference in Toronto. It is just about wrapping up, with the Professional Writers Association of Canada (PWAC) AGM this afternoon and a house party this evening. I have a lot of information and experience to process from this week, but for how here are three important points:

1. Elizabeth May (Canada's first and only Member of Parliament from the Green Party) was the keynote speaker at today awards luncheon. She referred to a recent article from Rutgers University about climate change which, it so happens, I had referenced at Speed River Journal this morning in a roundup of recent information about the issue. I guess I'm on the same wavelength.


2. I think I have finally found my tribe. I might have recognized this sooner, had I not been an evangelical Christian the first time I spent time with journalists in the late 80s. I've enjoyed spending long hours in a crowd of people who inspire and share my way of operating in the world. I might need to modify my self-concept with respect to my degree of introversion.


3. I can't remember what the third important point was. Hold that thought.
