New Beginning
Apr. 28th, 2015 11:12 amToday's prompt from NaPoWriMo was to write a poem about a bridge. This simple stanza is completely true.
New Beginning
Two middle-aged gay men
move into a townhouse,
working-class neighbourhood.
Sow spinach and snap peas
outside the front door in April.
A cute guy two doors down
always stops to say hello,
his daughter visits on weekends.
Beyond the kitchen window
a bridge dappled with graffiti
leads across a ditch into the woods,
chartreuse buds spreading.
