Thanks to a kind and subtle suggestion in an email from Danny I decided to go for a walk to clear my head at 3 p.m., not my usual time. The air had the sweet, mild quality of nectar, the light was fine as aged wine.

But the most beautiful thing in the entire park this week is the young red oak.

The final image, behind the cut, will be cross-posted in

Date: 2003-10-30 10:37 pm (UTC)Is Elli your daughter? I have two daughters. I see a lot of them during the summer, not much during the school year. Marian turns 12 in December and Brenna turns 10 in two weeks. Here is one of my favourite posts with pictures of them from the past six months.

Date: 2003-10-31 10:25 am (UTC)I can't imagine either. I had a hard time adjusting when they moved away from my city in '98, but our times together are wonderful. I'll see them the weekend of Nov. 15, Brenna's birthday, and then I expect to have them for more than a week over Christmas. Looking forward to the visits.
