The weather has settled into a dreary monotony of which only November is capable, and yet this has been a morning of exceptional beauty. More photos will follow over the next couple of days.

I heard a distant, invisible wailing. Several minutes later came a visitation from my green-eyed friend. She must have seen me from afar.

A flock of rock doves resides permanently over the Owens Corning fibreglass plant.

Hehe, glad you enjoy them. Attachment is fine. I don't plan to stop posting photos anytime soon. I'm enjoying creating a visual journal of the spaces I love.

Those mushrooms look like sex.

"Rock dove" is a euphemism for "pigeon", isn't it?

Yes and yes. I don't find interesting fungi here as often as in woods outside the city.

Looking at my field guide just now, I think the mushrooms are Gymnopus acervatus.

Hm, I had guessed Armillaria but it's hard to tell from the photo.

They don't fit my guide's description for that one. They're too small, smooth caps not scaly, no obvious ring. I'll have to go back with my guide and take a closer look, but Gymnopus fits pretty well.

Too bad; it says Armillaria is edible.

"Edible" doesn't necessarily mean "worth eating". You ain't missing much.

It made me think of you, which frequently happens when I shoot a photograph that pleases me.

An interesting thing about this image: I was only taking pictures of reflections, but when I got home I noticed the underwater stones.

!!!!!

Yes, that's how they are! I often think of trees this way: their roots digging deep into the earth's secret wisdom and source of life. The stones are part of that mystery, uncovered by the river.

I was only taking pictures of reflections, but when I got home I noticed the underwater stones.

Amazing how that happens. It took me a moment to see them too. I think it was the twig (?) just to the right of center, which combined with the nearest stone made me think it was a fish for a moment.

I love this picture. It reminds me of (although it doesn't really look much like) the M. C. Escher print "Three Worlds", which has always been one of my favorites of his.

The beauty of the Eramosa must console you for being away from the beautiful man you love.

More and more, I see trees as my teachers. There's a prayer by a famous Hindu holy man where he says "make me as tolerant as a tree." There are so many things to be learnt just be spending time with a tree.

On a more esoteric level, the stones lying beneath the water are the perfect image for what's going on spiritually at this time, in the Druidic view; it is the time when the Wheel of the Year lies in the Northwest, and energies of Water and Earth overlay one another.

hugs, Shimmer

I really enjoyed the top pic. the trees reflected in the stream? water of some sort. Really nice.

Green eyes looks like a beautiful cat.

I can't wait to see more pics.

Thanks. Yes, that is the Eramosa River. It's a block from where I live, and I walk there all the time.

I got started writing late today, but it's going faster than usual. The story is starting to pick up momentum. I have written 600 words and want to write another 2,600 by 8 p.m.

Go speed writer, GO!

The power lines crossing the frame in the picture of the doves struck me as reinforcing their movement, much like the speed lines in Japanese Manga.

The trees are awesome!

Thanks, Beast. I'm glad someone commented on the power lines. That's what I liked about this image! The Manga connection is interesting; I wouldn't have thought of that.
