Both of those images could produce a nice narrative, especially the bottom one. I don't know your writing process and how it relates to your photography, but do you ever take narrative journeys with your images? I mean, you know where they're taken but, do you relocate the images elsewhere in a written piece?
No. I have always liked photography, but never like this. It has been exploding in my life the past several months. I have used photos in my online nature essays, but never integrated it into an artistic/literary expression. This expression feels new and powerful. I hardly know what to do with it. I am bewildered.
What you have just suggested is very exciting. Very exciting.
I'm teaching a course titled: photography & creative writing. It will be along the lines I mentioned however, I'm thinking of adding a blog component. I wouldn't use this blog. It's too full of fodder for some student to rake me across the coals with. I have another one I've had much longer than this one I'll most likely use if I add the blogging to the class. I think this course will end up making me more creative in my writing. Should prove a fun challenge for all involved. :-)
These are wonderful images, especially the second one -- the enriching tree upon the river's bank in the foreground and the sickly, fallen tree upon the river's bank in the background. It is an essay unto itself. Photography as prose. Most eloquent indeed!
It's interesting and informative hearing how other people perceive these images! This one seemed risky to me because of the difficult lighting, but it evokes interesting responses.
I've tried to take pictures of that dead tree before, but it worked best in this ghostly light. I'm fascinated with my friends' responses to this image.
