I haven't posted as much as usual the past couple days because I have been trying to plunge ahead with the novel. I haven't even gone for my usual walks, and consequently have had no new photos. I had to go out for several hours last night, though, and tonight is choir rehearsal. The writing is going pretty well, although I haven't worked as far ahead as I had hoped.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] stealthpup for the ongoing Scrabble challenge. The periodic, brief, stimulating interludes make it easier to keep working.

Tomorrow I will rent a car and pick up my daughters for our first visit since the end of August. This has been an unusually long period of separation. I don't plan to spend much time on the computer for the next few days.

Brenna, my baby, turns 10 on Saturday. I plan to take them to the Royal Winter Fair, then meet [livejournal.com profile] djjo for dinner. My girls are remarkably easy-going about meeting my friends, so I'm not worried about them getting along, but still nervous about it. Hopefully the show will furnish some fun photos.

So life continues busier than I'm used to. My mood is good but I'm damn tired of writing, and ready to take a break for several days.

It's pouring rain and there's an electrical storm happening outside, very unusual for this time of year. I ought to shut down, and I'm sick of looking at this monitor anyway.

Hugs to all, and three kisses to Danny.

And lots and lots of book!

Congrats there Van. I hope you didn't get to wet last night. Quite the light and sounds show at points!

Hugs and have a safe trip and fun with your daughters!

Two more sleeps till I can see you, one more till I can hold you, and one to dream with you.

Danny

Yuck, the weather is miserable, not a pleasant one for driving.

I wrote for a little while after I got home last night and passed 3,500 words making it my best day of writing so far, for quantity. The flood of inspiration has dried up, though, so I'm ready for a break.

Lots of hugs.

During my visit the cunning knave trounced me quite soundly at Scrabble. I beseech you, dear sir, please avenge me. *drops a white silk hankerchief to the floor* ;-)

Hankies away! (bend and snach, bend and snach)

I will do so, dear gentle sir! Your honour will be avenged, or I will go down in 2 letter words trying!

(small aside - can you send me a quick email, I have that tape to return. djjo@torque.net)

Keep well Chris! Danny

Catching up

Fell behind in my reading of Tendril, due to various things; today I started again. I love the description of Lesson's DeSoto. It provided a surprising link with Daniel's elaborate, copiously-detailed account of the auto parts junkyard and the vehicles that lived there.

I didn't think I had ever seen the interior of a DeSoto, and when you described the steering wheel, that made me fairly positive that I haven't been in one.

Good luck with today's driving. I don't think you'll be making the drive in a late 1950s classic car!

hugs, Shimmer

In fact I am indebted to Daniel for helping me pick a car for Lesson. :-)
