You realise, of course, that fabulous as regular shortbread is (I truly think of it as the Food of the Gods), it's even more divine when you add a layer of Belgian chocolate on top! see, the chocolate cuts the sweetness/buttery flavour of the shortbread...

But I like the unadulterated creamy sweet smooth buttery flavour! I have tried variations on shortbread before, but always return to the original.

And it wasn't that hard to make. I'm gonna have to ask nicely for the recipe. Maybe I can exchange knitted items for it!

I do have a recipe for old cheddar and herb scones. It so kicks ass for a savoury bread.

Yes, it's the one savoury item on the list. It's a quick bread, dense and flavourful. The scones sound nice. I have a nice recipe for tart cherry-and-vanilla scones which I might make if my daughters and I have brunch guests at Christmas time.
