Dark sun has an eerie, haunting beauty that makes me think of a moment in Ralph Vaughn Williams' Seventh Symphony, Sinfonia Antarctica.

I'm not sure what I'm looking at in the second image, but it makes me thinking of one of the Elder Gods heaving out of the Earth through a mantle of ice to surge forward and DEVOUR! I think the weather is really making me ga-ga.

hugs, Shimmer

I don't remember what Sinfonia Antarctica is like, but his Fifth Symphony is one of my favourite compositions. Your message has prompted me to listen to the Ninth Symphony, a recording which I have had for years and only listened to once or twice. You're right, their is something Williamsesque about the image: its austerity perhaps.

The second image shows a chunk of concrete which somehow got stranded on the side of the pond with these chunks of ice lying around it. Your description is much more interesting than bare reality.

These pictures really capture the time of year - and, of course, the subect matter is waaay safer than yesterday's!

I've always been fascinated with ice. It's a great pic Van.

Hoping your not getting to rained on - it's grim and dreary in Toronto.

Hugs and hope your keeping warm. Danny

Well I had to go out in the rain tonight. We actually had a choir rehearsal. It was partly a post mortem, plus a chance to look at a few of our songs for next season. We tried stuff from Carousel, Phantom of the Opera, and the Lion King. Next week we're going out partying instead.
