Double birthday

Last night was a party for Bill bitterlawngnome and Daniel danthered, who just came home from a couple weeks in Arizona.



The meal was prepared by Herman with a little assistance from Monique and me. The delectable desserts were made by Danny djjo: a Basque flan and a chocolate brownie cake.



Danny sported a tusk for the occasion. I had to watch myself.



Daniel had to watch himself, too, and Bill forgot to watch his cookies.

I keep forgetting - don't make such suggary things!

The desserts were a success. I was pleased with the flan - my first one! The cake was also quite nice. The chocolate flavour is getting deeper as it sits for a couple days. I think it's going to be all gone by Wednesday.

The cake was a variation on a brownie recipe. Basically make 2 batches of brownies with a little more flour, bake in cake pans, et voila!

Ok - very tired. My little piece of cake tonight is wearing off, and I have more knitting todo.

They were delicious. No wonder the flan disappeared immediately. The texture of the cake was lovely. The butter icing was excellent, too, although I think a cream cheese icing would be interesting on a cake like that. I'm impressed with your ability to improvise things like this. I am so recipe-bound. You and Bill have inspired me to experiment more. It's especially tricky with baking, though.
