Thanks for pointing that out, DD. My art education is deficient. I had heard of Giotto blue before, but never Vermeer blue.

The fruits kinda demanded it, bossy things! Thanks, Chris.

That's beautiful. I bet it was delicious too. There is a food porn community for pictures just like this one on LJ. I bet you're a member. :-)

I have visited it before. Maybe I should join.

I like to have this breakfast a couple times a week. I started doing it with summer fruit last year. It was suggested by some friends who are doing something like the Atkins diet; this is what they eat for breakfast every day. Most of the winter I have just been stirring in some applesauce. But on Monday I had breakfast at a favourite neighbourhood restaurant: it was granola and vanilla yogurt with bananas, melon and blueberries. It inspired me to try this mixture. Bosc pears are my favourite winter fruit, and the orange was nicely sweet.

I'm fond of persimmons but maybe their flavour isn't strong enough for this composition. Otherwise I like to make a very simple fruit sallad of just oranges and bananas. They compliment each other very well. Fresh fruit as part of your breakfast is such a nice, fresh start to the day. I think I need a food icon.

Oh yes, I like persimmons, too. They're difficult to find here, much easier in Toronto.

The pictures probably wouldn't taste as good as mushy peas. The fruit was delicious, though.

Lovely. And I like the implication that the fruits don't acquire color¹ until they're combined with the oatmeal and with each other.

¹or even colour.

I wanted to accentuate the shape of the individual fruits and their shadows, but indeed, my mornings are a little grey until I have my breakfast.

absolutely beautiful

Well, I'll chime in too, though I like to kid myself that I'm really original. This is a stunning piece -- moving and beautiful.

That looks really good although, I don't eat anything with oats. Citrus and milk I don't do either. It became very apparent during my racing years certain things I could not eat, unless I wanted stomach cramps. Dairy products do that to me (if I'm competing). I can consume them otherwise though. And today, I don't race anymore. One last note, the thought of drinking a glass of milk is nasty. I hope I haven't turned you off, however. :-) I love the images!

Actually there is no milk in this breakfast, only yogurt, however I like milk. I have been drinking more of it lately because it buffers my stomach acidity.

hell V all your other friends have already said it but I have to add my two cents worth of love and praise (god knows you can never get enough of those eh?)

Really stunning. I'd buy all three of the top ones as prints for my kitchen in a heartbeat!

lovely

Thanks, Connor. It's exciting when something like this attracts so much attention. I was just playing around with the camera and Paintshop Pro and had no idea I was presenting something so appealing.

I really, really want a better camera. The resolution of these images would not bear much enlargement.

Well at least I'm making you drool for something healthy. ;-)

By the way, now that I'm taking an acid reducer I can enjoy a caramel latté now and again!
