I have never visited California, but the funny thing is, it sounds like a non-accent to me.
Once when my parents and I were traveling somewhere in the States, someone asked us if we were from California. No, Ontario, we said. They said we sounded like we were from California. I'm sure if we had said "about the house" the similarity would have disappeared.
hahaha! That was funny but also sad because of the truth behind it. Arnold Swartzenegger who is the govenor of california now (horrid as it is), is apparently trying to ban gay marrige!! California is supposed to be a progressive state. Uggh! Its very frustrating.
Yes, it is sad. I don't speak much on the issue of same-sex marraige because I believe other kinds of relationships should be similarly valued, e.g. common-law and polyamorous relationships. However this is a matter of personal freedom, and it's sad to see American politicians trying to suppress it.
