Baking day

Last night we watched Life of Brian. Brenna had seen it before, but neither Marian nor I had. I laughed so hard during the alien spaceship scene that Brenna thought I was going insane. I haven't had such a good laugh in years.

This afternoon we baked chocolate chip cookie squares.



Brenna is getting better at Cribbage. She just beat me at two straight games. She has this amazing strategy: she chatters endlessly, makes silly noises, keeps getting distracted and losing track of the count. Soon I'm rolling my head on the table, barely able to contain my frustration. Once I have lost my ability to think coherently, she easily wins.

I've met some poker/canasta/hand-n-foot players like that. By the time you remind yourself that it's all part of the plan, it's too late.

What? You mean up here in Canada? I don't know many people who have not heard of Monty Python. It was vastly popular when I was in high school and university, but I would never have been allowed to watch something so off-colour at home, and I was too straight-laced to take an interest in it until recently.

That is the exact same part that I nearly wet myself laughing so hard at. And I was sore the next day. And it still makes me laugh. Wow!
