OOOH fungi. great pics. I wasn't sure the top one was really a fungi at first it is so BRIGHT!
I used to love walking in the woods outside of portland oregon mushroom hunting. then we'd clean them and make soup and sautee and freeze some. Good times.
One of my little goals is to learn about edible fungi. Although we hunted for wild asparagus and picked all kinds of wild fruit to make jam when I was growing up, Mom would never take the risk of picking wild mushrooms.
A few years ago I found a tree covered with oyster mushrooms near the cottage. They're my favourite, so I knew what they were right away. When I looked them up, I read that there were no poisonous mushrooms with which they could be easily confused, so I enjoyed a weekend of fungus gastronomy. They were fantastic! So far, that was the only time I have used wild mushrooms.
