Girls' night out
Nov. 8th, 2003 02:33 pmJon, Sylvie and I went to The Werx last night, an unlikely and pleasant event. We haven't gone out as a party of three for months and months. Now, for the first time since we became friends, all three of us have pleasant significant relationships happening. But last night none of the others were available. Sarah had to work. Ray had other things to do and—Jon explained—isn't as spontaneous about jumping in the car and going out. The Handsome Cub, of course, lives in the wrong city for spur-of-the-moment outings.
So it was just me and my two buddies, a happy circumstance. Even though I've known them less than two years, it felt like old times.
Unexpectedly, we saw Dennis, a friend from my old church who is several years older than me and also has two children, and who came out of the closet two years ago. I haven't seen him since that time, and things have changed drastically. I was glad to hear he and wife have stayed on good terms. She and I were good friends in university. It's hard to believe that's almost 20 years ago.
Also at the Werx we saw the sexy Goatee-Man with a group friends down from Guelph celebrating his new job. Unfortunately he'll be moving to Winnipeg, but it's a timely change of fortune for him; he has been out of work since June.
Altogether it was a friendly evening, far more pleasant than the previous bar night in Hamilton. Tonight Les and I are going dancing at the Robin's Nest. Jon and Ray will we there, too.
