Catching up
Nov. 21st, 2003 12:08 amToday was almost a total loss as far as writing goes, but I managed to make up for it this evening.
My computer had been working slower and crashing more often. Today it reached the point where I couldn't continue without doing some maintenance on the hard drive. This afternoon I deleted a large number of unnecessary files, then started a defrag. It took three hours! It was long overdue.
My programs are starting much more easily now. And I don't know if it's just my imagination, but LiveJournal pages seem to be loading faster tonight.
The defrag finished at 9:30 this evening, so I figured the day was a write-off, so to speak.
"Oh, I'll just open Word," I thought. And that was fun to do without the computer freezing.
"I'll just write for a little while," I went on.
Huh. My fingers started to fly.
A little over two hours later, I had written 2,684 words, and essentially caught up to where I'm supposed to be, the two-thirds mark.

I'm surprised at my determination, which, today at least, came out of nowhere.
