Friends

This has been a weekend for connecting with friends, newer and older. As a result of contacting Daniel last week, we spent two hours together on Friday afternoon. Having blamed myself for our lapsed contact, I was surprised to learn the truth. He had a terrible year in 2005, with personal losses and professional misfortune, and admitted to withdrawing from social contact for several months. He is active and self-aware, likely to rebound quickly. I don’t feel any better, realizing what he went through, but at least we have reconnected.

I also had opportunity for enjoyable visits with bruno_bt, schillerium, and 2fruition.

I met Shawn for lunch yesterday at Fresh, intended destination of an unfortunate tour around the city more than a year ago with roosterbear, quillon, rfmcdpei and schillerium. Happily I finally managed to dine there, the tofu dish with Thai peanut sauce was delicious, and this will be worth further ventures. I can’t imagine giving up meat, but my fondness for vegetarian restaurants is growing.

I had met 2fruition twice before knowing him on LiveJournal, but this was our first significant time together. He’s a good writer, he’s hot, and I look forward to seeing more of him.
