A sad note

Terry Schwarzfeld, the friend-of-a-friend who was mugged and beaten in Barbados in February, died yesterday. She was a prominent philanthropist. Read the story here.

Highlight

The day didn't turn out as planned. I spent the afternoon cleaning the apartment in search of my vehicle emissions test, ultimately not finding it. I had planned to spend the evening with my writing partner doing our favourite thing, but she has to leave town for a funeral.

Receiving so many greetings redeemed the day somewhat, but the highlight was a newsy message from Brenna, vacationing with her boyfriend's family in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. This afternoon they went snorkeling. A wild sea turtle communed with Brenna and Tory and let her touch it. She's only 15, living one of my dreams, and it makes me smile.
