Winter journey

On December 21 I began hand writing a nature journal to cover the winter months. At first this season did not seem to bring the usual dark voyage of the soul. Now suddenly I have strayed into the unexpected: too-bright sunlight, razor edginess and lightning bolts. I am taking time off until January 26. Today at home felt more manageable: the slow drip kind of anxiety, rather than jolts and frantic thoughts. I looked after some business, talked to Dad on the phone and wrote a little freelance web content. Later I went to the Speed River, thought about David Abrams' book, and took some pictures. The camera eye carries me away from inner reflection, but that's okay. I need some distraction for now. I will have a pilgrimage to recount in the journal after all.
