The new sleep routine has settled into habit. I have a problem, though: when my head hits the pillow I am so sleepy I seldom can read past 11:00. Now that I'm getting six-and-a-half or seven hours of sleep per night instead of six, it's as if my body has decided it wants more. Hopefully I can move bedtime forward to 10:30, as first intended.
Now I don't have time. This morning I realized Daylight Savings Time starts in two weeks. That means I have to start adjusting now to avert the sleep disruption I experienced last fall. Tonight I will start going to bed 20 minutes earlier and set my alarm for 5:40 a.m. Next Sunday I'll shift another 20 minutes and set the alarm for 5:20. When the clocks change on March 12 I can switch back to 6:00 and my body will only have to make one more 20-minute adjustment.
