Costume dream
Jul. 13th, 2012 08:06 amThis morning I woke up from the first dream I've remembered in months. My textile artist friend Lorraine was mashed up with Loreena McKennitt and a famous Shakespearean actress. I took Marian and Brenna to see her in a play at the Stratford Festival, which was located in my fictitious city in Hockley Valley. We first attended a dinner banquet. I couldn't get a visual fix on Marian, but Brenna was about 10 with bobbed hair and wearing a print dress in dark green with little white flowers, resembling dresses the bridesmaids wore at my wedding (Ack!). It was a hand-me-down from Marian and fit her poorly. I was wearing some kind of Shakespearian period costume with a three-cornered hat. After dinner I wandered outside and ran into Lorraine, who was flustered but excited to see me. She gave me a mask to wear. It was only a ghost hood cut from a sheet with black marker holes around where the eyes had been cut, but it fit under the collar of my coat. She had made me a mummer! (with reference to Basia Bulat's In The Night music video.) Marian and Brenna arrived and were thrilled with the costume. Then I was in a playground standing precariously on a leather swing with my black cape flowing out behind. A bus pulled up beside the park and Sylvie stepped out. I screamed like a little girl with excitement, jumped down and went running to see her.
